Fluted spines of whipped cream, perfectly spaced birch trees, bottomless powder, epic cold dumps… simply the best powder skiing on earth! Add a culture steeped in history and tradition, excellence, kindness and respect and you have arrived at the bottom of your soul.
Japanese powder is legendary… and for good reason.
Join me in Japan’s premier Steep powder skiing locations of Hakuba & Myoko in the Japanese Alps. This trip is designed for advanced backcountry skiers who want to maximise their powder skiing and to be immersed in Japanese mountain culture. Imagine warm sake or creamy Supporo, onsen soaking and amazing Japanese cuisine.
Eleven meters of cold fluffy powder – the majority falling in two months – and a predictable snowpack means steep skiing is the norm.
The terrain is different than anywhere you’ve skied before…
… you’ll find truncated spurs, fluted spines, shoots and long erosive gullies. Forget classic coniferous forest, this place is a deciduous tropical jungle with strangler vines, red-faced monkeys and Kamoshika.
Simply put, I can deliver you steep powder skiing safely and consistently.
I have spent years exploring the numerous & intricate zones of both Hakuba and Myoko. This abundance of choice provides the goods in any daily conditions. Whether it’s slack country hot laps, big alpine bowls, or perfectly spaced birch trees for storm skiing, selection means perfection…
… and Japan sure does deliver.
Will provided an amazing adventure for our women’s backcountry ski trip in Japan. He is an experienced guide who sought out the best snow based on conditions. It was wonderful not having to navigate to the resorts or think about where we wanted to ski for the day. Will planned that all out and drove us everywhere. An excellent trip.
Will is a master. He is an all-around awesome guide who thought of just about everything we would want or need. Call for a good [great] time.
Went to Hakuba in Feb 2019 with Will as a ski guide. Will has a great knowledge of the area, was able to bring us to amazing snow every day (despite not having Japow snow forecast/conditions every day), and navigate all the different hills and connections to different lifts in between creatively. He was able to balance our groups’ preferences with slack country vs backcountry very well and keep everyone happy and satisfied with their day. Very easy going, pleasant and SAFE to ski the backcountry and to travel with. Strongly recommend!!!
